Anchorage, Alaska Bachelorette Guide
Whether you're going for the gorgeous scenery, jaw dropping glaciers or just looking to go somewhere unique for a bachelorette weekend, this is the place for you!
Places to Stay!
This beautiful and modern cabin is surrounded by tall trees that will make you feel like you’re in the mountains. It comes equipped with an indoor fireplace, so you and your gals can cozy up by the fire in your matching flannels. ;) The cabin is located near a ski resort, so we definitely recommend heading there if you're there during the right season! There is also a cute little creek that runs at the front of the property; you're sure to love this place!
This quintessential cabin-style home is something you would see in a Hallmark movie! The woodwork in the house is beautiful and there is a wrap around porch to sit on and enjoy the peaceful property! This is located near Mt. Alyeska and well-known restaurants that people go to after a long say of being on the slopes.
Brunch!
Snow City Cafe is the place to be when it comes to brunch; it'll satisfy any craving! From their made-from-scratch soups to the french toast to the locally brewed beer, this place has everything. Try their breakfast burrito: scrambled eggs, chorizo, hash browns, cilantro, green chile, red onion, tomato, pepperjack, ranchero sour cream, salsa, flour tortilla, or if you're a sweeter kind of gal, get the stuffed french toast: french oven bakery baguette, walnut mandarin orange cream cheese, toasted walnuts, raspberry butter, syrup!
This weekend brunch restaurant is one you absolutely have to go to, especially if you love chicken and waffles! While you may be as far north as you can get, this is definitely a piece of the south. Chicken Shack knows that we may be a bit of a hot mess in the mornings on a bach trip, so why not get the hot mess morning: breakfast potatoes, cheese curds, country gravy and poached eggs. Of course, you have to order a prosecco with whatever you decide!
Located downtown, Ginger is known for their fresh ingredients, pacific rim twists on classic foods and their modern atmosphere. If you’re willing to go outside the box; try their mu shu breakfast tacos: mu shu tacos with ground seasoned chicken, egg, shaved napa cabbage, fresh cilantro, and sriracha lime sour cream BUT if you’re more of a conventional gal, then the eggs benedict is a great choice!
Lunch/Dinner!
Kincaid Grill is known for their regional cuisine so you are sure to be eating Alaska's most fresh ingredients when you dine here. If you’re looking for some locally caught fish, then this is the place for you, order the AK Halibut: Heirloom Sauce Vierge, Lemon Asparagus Risotto, Parmesan Crumble, Grilled Asparagus, Basil Infused Oil. If you're more of a land kind of gal, then order the braised beef short rib! Don't forget to look through their extensive wine menu!
Looking for a crazy long, awesome list of beer on tap? Then Moose’s Tooth is the place for you. Pick out a beer you want to try, grab the pint and order a delicious pizza! They specialize if “normal” pizzas such as margherita: Roma Tomatoes, Fresh Basil, Parmesan, Garlic Oil Mozzarella & Provolone, but they also have come up with some more ~unconventional~ pizzas, such as Mac N Cheese: Reindeer Sausage, Macaroni Noodles, Parsley, American Cheese, Cheddar, Mozzarella, Provolone, Garlic Oil. Definitely try out this place if you’re looking for pints and pies!
Spenard Roadhouse is a restaurant that even the pickiest of eaters can find something to love! They have everything ranging from soups and salads to baby back ribs and NY steak! They also specialize in infused drinks such as a lavender lemonade: lavender infused simple syrup, housemade lemonade, seltzer water! They also serve breakfast/brunch until 3pm, so that is also a plus!
Bars!
If you haven't quite caught on to the theme of Anchorage being known for their freshly brewed beers, then maybe this bar will help! 49th State Brewing Co has award winning beer, so if you’re a beer kind of gal, then you definitely should get a bottle… or 4. Don't forget to go out on their back patio for beautiful scenery with a cold one in your hand!
Darwin’s Theory is what you call a small town bar with a big city feel! This bar is the world seller in cinnamon schnapps, so you should absolutely try that while you’re there. Locals and even tourists call this bar the best small, downtown bar in AK! If the locals go, then you know its worth your time!
We all love drinks and just chatting, but Koots has it all! From $3 beers and $12 pitchers to arcade games and live entertainment, this bar is a cant miss! They have a ton of collectable pinball games such as Ms. Pacman available to customers to enjoy!
Activities!
While you’re in Anchorage you can't miss the Portage Glacier! Hop on a boat that takes you up close and personal with the prettiest 10-story glacier in all of the Alpines! While the glacier is a spectacle, make this a two in one trip and head over to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to see all of the wildlife AK is known for!
Day trips on the Alaskan railroad is the way to go! You can see amazing scenery, be in awe of the wildlife and get to experience a state in a way you have never been able to before!
We hope this get away is exactly what you and your gals are looking for! Drink some Alaskan beer and take photos of the gorgeous scenery for us!
